TOXIDROMES

 

  1. Anticholinergic Toxidrome - see here
     
  2. Cholinergic Toxidrome - intoxication is 2ry to Organophosphates and pesticides. Like anticholinergic, also cholinergics are divided into muscarinic and nicotinic effects. Muscarinics will give:  S alivation, Lacrimation, Urination, Diarrhea, Bronchorrhea/Bradycardia, Miosis. Nicotinics will give tachycardia, ­ BP. Many remember it as SLUDGE (salivation, lacrimation, urination, diaphoresis, GI symptoms, emesis). Treatment c/w Atropine.
     
  3. Sympathomimetic  Toxidrome - common agents are Cocaine, Amphetamine, PCP. S & S are: Tachycardia, Mydriasis, ­BP, diaphoresis, ­ bowel sounds. The latter two distinguish this toxidrome from anticholinergic toxidrome.
