TOOTH FX S & S:
- Ellis I - enamel only is involved. Tooth looks chalky.
- Ellis II - enamel + dentine are involved. Looks yellow.
- Ellis III - enamel + dentine + pulp.
Hypersensitivity to cold and cotton.
Loose tooth.
Dental avulsion - tooth out of the socket
DX: 1. See above in "overview" Treatment:
- Ellis I - refer to dentist
- Ellis II - Calcium Hydroxide paste applied to tooth and referred to dentist within 24 hrs.
- Ellis III - Dental consult.
- Loose tooth - soft diet and referral to dentist.
- Dental avulsion - rinse tooth in NS and place it back into the socket if less then 2-3 hr. If placement is unsuccessful, tooth can be preserved in milk or patient's own saliva.
