BRAIN ABSCESS
Etiology:
- Streptococci, anaerobes (e.g. Bacteroides) and Enterobacteriaceae are the most common pathogens.
S & S :
- Similar to meningitis and encephalitis but more subacute.
DX :
- CT (do not do LP).
Treatment:
- Neurosurgical consult.
Ceftriaxone or PenG + Flagyl until results are available.
