LYMPHOGRANULOMA  VENEREUM

 

  1. Caused by Chlamydia trachomatis . Not common in USA.
     
  2. Presents  rarely with primary genital lesion which usually goes undiagnosed.  Patients present with second stage disease; large inguinal adenopathy.  "Groove Sign" occurs as a result of lymph nodes above and below the inguinal ligament.  Constitutional S & S may be present.
     
  3. DX is made with serology and biopsy.
     
  4. Treated with  Doxycycline 100 mg bid or tetracycline 500 mg PO qid x 3wks (unless pt is pregnant).
