GONORRHEA

 

  1. Can present with urethritis, PID, cervicitis, pharyngitis, anorectal and disseminated. The pharyngeal and anorectal   form are usually asymptomatic.
     
  2. Urethritis presents with discharge.
     
  3. Disseminated form presents with skin (small and only few lesions with necrotic center) and joint involvement (oligoarthritis, any joint involved), and constitutional symptoms.
     
  4. DX made on clinical and culture bases.
     
  5. Urethritis/cervicitis are treated with Ceftriaxone 125 -250 mg IM x 1 dose. Disseminated form is treated with Ceftriaxone 1 gm IV qd.
