GONORRHEA
- Can present with urethritis, PID, cervicitis, pharyngitis, anorectal and disseminated. The pharyngeal and anorectal form are usually asymptomatic.
- Urethritis presents with discharge.
- Disseminated form presents with skin (small and only few lesions with necrotic center) and joint involvement (oligoarthritis, any joint involved), and constitutional symptoms.
DX made on clinical and culture bases.
- Urethritis/cervicitis are treated with
Ceftriaxone
125 -250 mg IM x 1 dose. Disseminated form is treated
with Ceftriaxone 1 gm IV qd.
